Man charged with killing jogger in Washington DC

According to the official reports from the Washington police, the woman was jogging across the street, when 23-year-old man stabbed her to death.

Woman’s name is Wendy Martinez, she was engaged and enjoying her life by peacefully jogging in her free time.

Now, Chief of Metropolitan Police, Peter Newsham confirmed that she was killed by stabbing to death in the unprovoking attack.

The police said on the morning of Thursday it looks like the random attack.

Newsham shared some more information on the victim. Wendy Martinez was 35 years old and she loved to run. She was jogging at night on Tuesday as well when an unknown man killed her at the crossing of P and 11th Streets. It happened a little bit earlier than 8 pm.

The woman was trying to ask for help and got to the closest restaurant, where people tried to help her. There was a nurse among concerned community members who did everything to help and stopped her bleeding.

Martinez was quickly transported to the nearest hospital, but she was pronounced dead there.

According to Newsham, community activated to help with identifying the suspect who stabbed a woman as Anthony Crawford. Police quickly found him in one of the parks on Wednesday and took into the police station for questioning.

Officials said that there must be an investigation to uncover the motive, but on Thursday Crawford was imprisoned and charged with killing.

Newsham says that all the witnesses of this accident did not see any conflict or confrontation between them.
