Man charged with killing jogger in Washington DC

According to official reports from the Washington DC police, a woman was jogging across the street when a 23-year-old man stabbed her to death.

The victim’s name was Wendy Martinez, and she was engaged and enjoying her life by peacefully jogging in her free time.

Chief of Metropolitan Police Peter Newsham confirmed on Thursday morning that it looked like she was killed by stabbing in an unprovoked attack.

Newsham also shared some more information on the victim. Wendy Martinez was 35 years old and she loved to run. She was jogging at night on Tuesday when an unknown man killed her at the crossing of P and 11th Streets. It happened a little bit earlier than 8 p.m.

The woman was trying to ask for help and got to the closest restaurant, where people tried to help her. There was a nurse among the concerned community members who did everything possible to try and stop her bleeding.

Martinez was quickly transported to the nearest hospital, but she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

According to Newsham, the community activated to help with identifying the suspect who stabbed the woman. A man named Anthony Crawford was determined to be the perpetrator. Police quickly found him in one of the parks on Wednesday and took him into the police station for questioning.

Officials said that there must be an investigation to uncover the motive, but on Thursday Crawford was imprisoned and charged with murder.

Newsham says that none of the witnesses of this incident saw any conflict or confrontation between them.
