Rap legend imprisoned on 28 years for hit-and-run

Rap musician Marion Knight, also known as Suge Knight, will go to prison for 28 years. He faced charges in a 2015 hit-and-run death connected to the Straight Outta Compton film.

His murder trial was delayed because of a chain of bizarre events. This Thursday pleading no contest, he was officially charged for the incident.

Plea deal for Suge was reached a few days before the start of jury selection in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Suge was charged not only with hit-and-run but also with attempted murder and murder. It happened as a result of a dispute that happened on the set of the trailer for a popular biopic including and Knight himself.

According to the official documents, Knight killed 55-year-old businessman Terry Carter from Compton, California. Knight also injured his security consultant Cle Sloan, when he ran both of them over near a burger stand.

Lawyers of the rapper insist that Knight was acting in self-defense and was only trying to get away.

The Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles Country District stated in an official announcement that Knight would be sentenced to 11 years of imprisonment as a part of plea bargain, which is doubled based on the 3-strikes law of California. Suge has already had prior convictions.

He also received 6 more years for using a violent deadly weapon, which in this case was his Ford F-150 Raptor pickup truck.

They also announced that official sentencing will take place on October 4.
