Trains from Charbagh to Delhi to run late

LUCKNOW: Rail traffic was affected on Lucknow-Delhi route after tracks got damaged following the derailment of a goods train in Farrukhabad on Saturday morning.

Two trains were cancelled, several diverted and many, including , arrived late at Charbagh sttaion.

Railway officials said it would take at least a week for rail traffic to normalise on Lucknow-Delhi route.

They have advised passengers to check the routes of the diverted trains before journey.

“A goods train derailed near Farrukhabad railway station around 7am on Saturday. The derailment has damaged around 500 metres of the tracks. The damaged track lane was one of the major routes for trains running towards Delhi, Agra and Mathura from Lucknow,” said chief public relations officer, Northern Railway, Deepak Kumar.

Varanasi Express and Saharanpur Express were cancelled on Saturday, while Ahmedabad Express was diverted.

Among trains running late on Saturday were Jaipur Express (9 hours), Saryu Yamuna Express (8 hours), Delhi-Faizabad Express (7 hours), Padmawat Express (7 hours), (7 hours), Begumpura Express (6 hours) and Rajdhani Express (2 hours).
